Chery Group has reached another big milestone. The Chinese automaker has now sold more than 20 million vehicles around the world. The company also became the first Chinese carmaker to export over 200,000 vehicles in a single month.

In July 2026, Chery sold 276,820 vehicles. That is a 23.3 percent rise from the same month last year. Exports hit a new high of 202,533 units, up 70.1 percent year-on-year. New energy vehicle sales reached 129,067 units, nearly double the figure from July 2025.

From January to July this year, total sales stood at 1.63 million vehicles. Exports during the same period passed 1.14 million units. These numbers show steady demand both at home and abroad.

Record Exports Lead the Way

The export figure stands out most clearly. No other Chinese automaker has shipped more than 200,000 cars in one month before. Chery has held the top spot among Chinese passenger-vehicle exporters for 23 consecutive years. July raised the bar higher.

Overseas buyers now make up a large share of the company’s customers. Roughly one in three Chery owners lives outside China. The group sells vehicles in more than 130 countries and regions. Factories and research centres outside China continue to expand.

Strong Growth in New Energy Vehicles

New energy vehicles formed almost half of July sales. The 129,067 units sold include pure electric and plug-in hybrid models. The nearly 100 percent year-on-year jump shows how quickly this part of the business is growing.

Chery has been adding more electric and hybrid models to its line-up. The 20-millionth vehicle itself was a Fulwin A9 electric sedan. That model shares its name with the company’s first production car from 1997, which was also among its earliest exports.

Recognition on Global Rankings

The sales results came alongside other recognition. Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., the Hong Kong-listed company, entered the 2026 Fortune Global 500 for the first time as an independent listed firm. It ranked No. 383.

Chery also placed first among automotive brands in the 2026 Kantar BrandZ Chinese Global Brand Builders Top 50. It has appeared on that list for nine consecutive years. These rankings reflect both sales volume and brand strength in international markets.

What This Means in Pakistan

Master Auto Engineering, Chery’s official partner in Pakistan, welcomed the news. The company said the global results reinforce its own plans. Those plans include bringing more Chery models to local buyers, expanding local manufacturing, and growing the aftersales network.

Pakistan has seen rising interest in Chinese brands. Buyers look for value, modern features and reliable service. Chery’s global scale helps support parts supply and technical know-how for the local operation. Master Auto Engineering has already invested in assembly and customer support. The latest figures give the local team more reason to keep building that base.

Looking at the Bigger Picture

Chery started in 1997. It took ten years to reach its first million sales. Reaching 20 million took less than two decades more. The pace of growth has increased in recent years, especially through exports and new energy models.

The company still faces the same challenges as other global carmakers. Competition is intense. Supply chains need to stay stable. Charging infrastructure for electric vehicles varies widely by market. Yet the July numbers and the cumulative total show that demand for Chery products remains solid in many regions.

For customers in Pakistan, the global success offers a practical signal. A brand that sells millions of vehicles and keeps expanding its export volume is more likely to maintain parts availability and model updates. Local assembly can also help with pricing and delivery times over the longer term.

Chery has set a clear marker with 20 million vehicles sold. The July export record and strong new energy sales add further evidence of momentum. Master Auto Engineering says it will continue to focus on bringing those same vehicles and the supporting service network to Pakistani buyers. For more updates, visit DrivePK.com
