Deepal S05 REEV vs ARCFOX T5 REEV: Which Range-Extender SUV Makes More Sense in Pakistan?
You have about Rs. 10 million to spend. You like the idea of an electric SUV. But you also drive from Rawalpindi to Lahore or Karachi, and you worry about finding a charger.
That worry is why range-extended SUVs exist. And right now, two of them are fighting for your money.
The Deepal S05 REEV has been on sale since November 2025. The ARCFOX T5 REEV from Sazgar was announced just days ago, in early October 2026. They cost almost the same and look similar on paper. So which one should you book?
I checked prices, specs, and warranty details across Pakistani sources. Where the numbers disagree, I say so.
What Is a REEV, and Why Does It Matter?
A REEV is a range-extended electric vehicle. It runs on its battery, and the wheels are driven by an electric motor. When the battery runs low, a small petrol engine starts. But that engine mostly makes electricity instead of pushing the car.
In daily city use, you can drive on battery alone and charge at home. On a long trip, you fill up at any petrol pump and keep going. You don't need a charging plan.
Both cars use a 1.5-litre petrol engine as the range extender. Both have a battery of about 27 kWh. So the real differences are in price, power, charging speed, warranty, and how each one is sold.
Price and Booking: The Gap Is Small
The Deepal S05 REEV Premium is priced at Rs. 9,999,000 ex-factory. Master Changan took a booking amount of Rs. 2,000,000.
The ARCFOX T5 REEV starts at Rs. 10,195,000. The higher variant costs Rs. 10,495,000. Sazgar's booking amounts are Rs. 2,050,000 and Rs. 2,100,000.
So the cheapest T5 costs Rs. 196,000 more than the S05. The top T5 costs Rs. 496,000 more.
One thing to watch is the variant names. PakWheels calls them Pro and Max. ProPakistani calls them standard and Apex. They are the same two cars. The cheaper one is Pro, or standard. The dearer one is Max, or Apex.
There is also a catch with the S05. Used and resale listings show the S05 at roughly Rs. 10.5 to 10.9 million. That means buyers have been paying over the ex-factory price. The T5 is brand new, so we don't know yet if it will follow the same pattern.
Power and Performance

The ARCFOX T5 is clearly stronger. It makes 268 hp and 365 Nm of torque, according to auto resources.
For the S05, Master Changan quotes 215 hp and 320 Nm. Other listings show slightly different numbers, between 204 and 235 hp. So treat the S05 figure as roughly 215 hp.
That is about a 50 hp gap. You will feel it when overtaking on the motorway. But most buyers will not miss it in city traffic. Both cars give the smooth, quiet pull that electric drive is known for.
The drivetrains differ too. The S05 is rear-wheel drive. The T5 is front-wheel drive, with no AWD option. Neither is meant for serious off-roading.
Electric Range and Total Range
Here the cars are close. Both batteries are about 27 kWh. The T5's is 27.4 kWh. The S05's is 27.3 kWh.
The T5 claims 193 km of pure electric range on the NEDC cycle. The S05 claims 170 km on NEDC, and Master Changan lists 145 km on the stricter WLTP cycle.
Be careful with these numbers. NEDC is the most generous test. Real-world range will be lower, especially with the AC on in a Pakistani summer. PakWheels estimates the T5's 193 km NEDC figure is closer to 140 to 160 km in other tests, and that is only a rough guess.
For total range, the T5 claims 1,060 km. The S05 claims over 1,000 km, and Master Changan lists 1,012 km on WLTP. The T5 brochure doesn't say which test cycle its 1,060 km uses. That makes a direct comparison unfair.
Real-world data helps here. PakWheels tested the S05 and covered more than 1,000 km using about 45 litres of petrol plus some electricity. They estimated city running cost at about Rs. 13 per km. The T5 has no such test yet.
Charging Speed
The T5 charges faster. Its brochure claims 20% to 80% in under 15 minutes on DC fast charging.
The S05 takes longer. Master Changan lists 30% to 80% in about 20 minutes, while a dealer page says 30 minutes. It supports 6.6 kW AC charging and can power outside devices at 6.6 kW.
There is a practical point, though. Fast chargers are still rare in Pakistan. Most owners will charge at home overnight. For them, the charging speed on paper matters less than it seems. It matters more if you live near a good charging network.
Size and Space
The T5 is the bigger car. It measures 4,760 mm long, 1,936 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall. Its wheelbase is 2,845 mm.
The S05 is 4,620 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,600 mm tall. Its wheelbase is slightly longer at 2,880 mm, which can help rear legroom. Boot space is 492 litres. Both seat five.
If you want a larger road presence, the T5 has it. If you want an easier car to park in tight markets, the S05 is a little friendlier.
Features and Safety
The S05 REEV Premium comes with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS, hill descent control, and adaptive cruise control. Its dealer page lists a 15.6-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. That is a lot for the price.
The T5 matches it on the basics: six airbags, a 360 camera, and adaptive cruise control, according to PakWheels. The brochure highlights a glass roof and an 18-speaker sound system on both variants. The Max or Apex adds front-row massage seats.
Earlier pre-launch reports also mentioned a 15.6-inch screen, a 22.8-inch head-up display, and Level 2 driver assistance. Those were not confirmed for the Pakistan models at the time, so check them at the showroom.
The T5 offers only two exterior colours, white and black. The S05 has six choices.
Warranty: Where the T5 Pulls Ahead
ARCFOX offers a 6-year or 150,000 km general warranty. Its battery warranty is 8 years or 160,000 km.
One Changan dealer page lists the S05 at 3 years or 100,000 km for the vehicle. The battery gets 8 years or 150,000 km.
That is a real difference. A longer warranty matters when you're buying a new technology car with a new brand name. Ask Master Changan to confirm the S05 terms in writing, because dealer pages can differ.
Availability and After-Sales
The S05 is locally assembled. PakWheels lists delivery at around two months. Master Changan also has a wide dealer network, since Changan is already a known name here.
The T5 is an imported CBU unit. Delivery is listed at three to four months. ARCFOX is a new brand in Pakistan. Sazgar has experience, but the service and parts network for this car is untested.
That is the biggest risk with the T5. A new brand can mean slower parts supply and lower resale value at first. It can also mean fresher attention from the dealer. We won't know until owners report back.

Which One Should You Buy?

Pick the Deepal S05 REEV if you want the lower price and a faster delivery. It also suits you if you value a known brand and a wider choice of colours. Its real-world fuel use has already been tested by reviewers.
Pick the ARCFOX T5 REEV if you want more power, a bigger body, and faster charging. The longer warranty is a strong reason too. But accept that you are an early buyer of a new brand, and that you will wait longer for it.
A fair way to decide is to ask yourself three questions. Do I need the extra 50 hp? Do I trust a brand that has been in Pakistan for only a few days? Is a longer warranty worth waiting an extra two months?
If your answers are no, yes, and no, the S05 is the safer buy. If they are yes, no, and yes, the T5 is more exciting.
Before You Book
Test drive both if you can. Ask each dealer for the warranty terms in writing. Confirm the final on-road price, since ex-factory prices are not what you pay. And remember that range figures on paper are always higher than what you'll see on a hot day on the motorway.
Specs and prices here come from Pakistani auto sources as of October 2026. The T5 was only just launched, so details may change. For more updates, visit DrivePK.com
