BMW has shown the eighth-generation 3 Series, and this time the sedan is coming with two clear paths: petrol mild-hybrid models and a fully electric i3. According to source reports, production will begin in early 2027, with first customer deliveries expected in the first quarter. It is a global reveal, and no Pakistan launch date has been confirmed yet.

The new model is known internally as the G50 3 Series. It keeps the 3 Series name that many buyers trust, but its look and cabin are moving closer to BMW’s newer Neue Klasse era.

A sharper look with Neue Klasse cues

The biggest change is at the front. The new 3 Series gets a shark-nose shape, thinner kidney grilles, slimmer lights, and cleaner body lines. The car also appears a little larger than before, but BMW has kept the sedan’s familiar stance.

According to source reports, the design also takes hints from older BMW models, including classic 2002-era details and the E24 6 Series. That matters because BMW is trying to give the 3 Series a fresh identity without losing the feel that made it a key executive sedan.

Petrol models stay in the game

BMW is not dropping petrol power. The standard 330 and 330 xDrive use a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 255 hp and 48V mild-hybrid support. For buyers who want more speed, the new M350 xDrive steps in above the old M340i xDrive.

The M350 xDrive uses BMW’s B58 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, making 437 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. BMW says it can do 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. It also adds a Drift Moment function, which can send more torque to the rear wheels for a more rear-biased feel.

These are manufacturer-reported figures, and they are not Pakistan-market numbers.

Electric i3 joins the family

The big surprise is that the 3 Series family now includes a fully electric sedan. The BMW i3 50 xDrive uses dual motors and delivers 463 hp. It is built on BMW’s Neue Klasse EV architecture, which is separate from the petrol car’s setup, even though both share the same design direction.

BMW claims up to 468 miles of range in US specification, with DC fast charging of up to 400 kW. The company also says around 208 miles of range can be added in 10 minutes under suitable conditions.

For Pakistan, that is where the real question begins. Range claims can change with road conditions, heat, traffic, and charging access. Local duties, import costs, and service support will also shape whether the i3 can make sense here.

Cabin goes fully digital

Inside, BMW has added its Panoramic iDrive setup. It includes a 17.9-inch central display, BMW Panoramic Vision across the base of the windscreen, an available 3D head-up display, BMW Operating System X, and new steering-wheel controls.

That should make the cabin feel modern, but some buyers may need time to adjust if they prefer a traditional instrument cluster.

What this means for Pakistan

For Pakistani buyers, the petrol 330 versions and the M350 xDrive are likely to be the more realistic models in the premium sedan space, though BMW has not confirmed local arrival details. The electric i3 will face extra pressure from charging access, import taxes, resale confidence, and workshop support.

According to source reports, BMW is also investing around €2 billion in vehicle and battery production in Germany, which shows how important this new generation is to the brand. Still, that does not mean a Pakistan launch is guaranteed.

For now, the safest move is to wait for an official local announcement from Dewan Motors before setting a budget or booking plan. Global specs are exciting, but they are not the same as Pakistan specs.
