New Kia Stonic Turbo: Specs and Pakistan First Look

Kia Lucky Motors has shown the new Kia Stonic in Pakistan, giving buyers their first clear look at a much more modern compact crossover. The big headline is not just the new face, but the turbocharged engine and updated cabin. The first-look vehicle was a top-spec CBU model, so some features on display may not match every Pakistan-market variant. That matters because Kia is expected to offer more than one trim, but the final local lineup has not been fully confirmed.

What Changed in the New Stonic?

According to sources, this is the global third-generation Stonic, while it is the second Stonic version to reach Pakistan. The old model was known more for easy city use than strong punch, but the new one changes that balance with a 1.0L Smartstream T-GDi turbo engine, a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a more premium cabin.

The design also moves to Kia’s latest look. Up front, the car gets Star Map LED daytime running lights, LED headlamps, a sharper Tiger Nose grille, and lower fog lamps. On the side, the 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels and body cladding give it a more planted look. At the back, the Star Map tail lamps, new bumper, spoiler, and rear wiper help it look fresher than the outgoing car.

For Pakistani city roads, the compact size should still be a plus. It should be easier to park than bigger SUVs, while the crossover shape gives the higher driving position buyers want, even though a local ground-clearance figure has not been confirmed.

Turbo Power Could Make a Real Difference

The old Stonic’s naturally aspirated engine was one of its weaker points. The new turbo setup should help more in daily use, especially when carrying family, climbing flyovers, or overtaking in traffic.

The reported output is 98 hp and 172 Nm, with power sent to the front wheels through a 7-speed DCT. The car also offers Eco, Normal, and Sport modes. According to the source report, Kia’s estimate for fuel economy is 16–18 km/L, but that remains an unverified company claim, not an independent road test.

That DCT gearbox may be a selling point for some buyers, but it also brings a trade-off. It can shift quickly and smoothly when used well, yet repair and service needs may be more complex than a simple automatic. Buyers should wait for final local warranty terms and service support details before making a decision.

Cabin, Safety and Practical Use

Inside, the Stonic now gets an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-inch instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch TFT display, automatic climate control, an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, USB and USB-C ports, and a console-mounted start button.

The cabin uses a light and dark grey theme with artificial leather and fabric seats. Rear passengers also get a USB port, adjustable headrests, and an armrest. A first-look report says the cabin should fit four adults comfortably, but that should be checked in person.

Safety looks better too. The reported list includes six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS, traction control, hill-start assist, downhill assist, and ISOFIX anchors. For family buyers, that is a meaningful step up from many entry-level crossovers.

The company also reports a four-year or 100,000-km warranty, whichever comes first, but readers should confirm the final booklet before booking.

What Pakistan Buyers Should Wait For

According to sources, Kia is expected to show the new Stonic at PAPS Auto Show at Expo Centre Lahore. The reported two-variant plan includes a base model and a top-spec version, with the displayed car being the sunroof-equipped top trim.

If you are not in a hurry, it makes sense to wait. Final pricing, taxes, local assembly plans, delivery time, and exact variant equipment can still change. That is especially important for a turbo car with a DCT, where after-sales support and parts supply will matter as much as the feature list.
