Pak Suzuki Ends Bookings for Two Cultus Variants

Pak Suzuki Motor Company has stopped accepting new bookings for the Cultus VXR and Cultus AGS. The decision took effect on September 1, 2026. A letter went out to all authorised dealerships under the title “Discontinuation of Two Variants of Suzuki Cultus.”

According to the notice, dealers must stop taking fresh bookings for those two versions and tell their sales teams and customers about the change. The Cultus VXL remains open for booking and sale. That leaves the VXL as the only Cultus variant available for new orders right now.

Suzuki has not explained why. There is no public statement about production limits, demand numbers, inventory, or any future plans for the model. Some dealer reports briefly differed on whether only the AGS was affected, but the majority of confirmed sources and the company letter point to both the VXR and AGS.

The official Suzuki Pakistan website still shows all three variants with their previous prices at the time of writing. That has not been updated yet.

What the Variants Were

The Cultus has long been offered in three main forms:

• VXR: the base manual version

• VXL: the mid-level manual with more features

• AGS (sometimes listed as VXL-AGS): the automatic gear-shift version

All share the same 998cc engine. The AGS stood out for its automated transmission, which many city drivers preferred to avoid constant clutch work in traffic. The VXR sat at the lower price point. The VXL sat in the middle with added equipment such as alloy wheels, fog lamps, and better safety items on higher trims.

Recent list prices before the change were roughly:

• VXR around Rs 4.089 million

• VXL around Rs 4.359 million

• AGS around Rs 4.591 million

These are ex-factory figures. On-road costs were higher after taxes, registration, and other charges.

Why This Matters for Buyers

The Cultus has been a familiar name in Pakistan’s hatchback segment for years. Many families and first-time buyers looked at it as a practical step up from smaller cars. It offered a bit more space and features than the Alto while staying below the price of larger models.

Now the choice is narrower. Anyone who specifically wanted the base VXR or the automatic AGS will have to look at the remaining VXL or consider other cars. People who already booked those variants before the cutoff should check with their dealer about delivery status. Pending orders are usually honoured, but confirmation is wise.

Dealers have been told to guide customers toward the VXL. Stock of the discontinued versions that is already in the pipeline may still reach showrooms, but new production bookings for them have stopped.

Cultus Sales Context

Recent sales figures show the Cultus has not been a volume leader. In months where data is available, it has moved a few hundred units while the Alto regularly sells several thousand. The Swift has also performed more strongly in the hatchback space.

This does not automatically explain the decision. Low volume can lead companies to simplify production, focus on stronger sellers, or prepare for a refresh. Without an official comment, any link to sales, costs, or upcoming models stays speculative.

Pak Suzuki has made similar quiet adjustments to its lineup before. Older models have been phased out or limited when market conditions or production realities shifted. The pattern is not new, even if the timing feels sudden for buyers who were still considering the full range.

What Buyers Should Do Now

If you were planning a Cultus purchase:

• Confirm current availability directly with an authorised dealer. Ask specifically about VXL stock and delivery times.

• Check whether any remaining VXR or AGS units exist in the dealer network before the pipeline empties.

• Compare the VXL features and price against the Alto, Swift, and competing hatchbacks in the same budget.

• Watch for any official update from Pak Suzuki. The company may eventually clarify the reason or announce the next step for the Cultus name.

The VXL keeps the model alive for now. It still carries the same engine and the mid-level equipment package that many buyers preferred. For some, that will be enough. For others who wanted the cheapest entry or the automatic option, the decision removes those exact choices.

The Wider Market Picture

Pakistan’s car market has shifted toward entry-level volume and newer crossovers and SUVs. The Alto continues to dominate pure sales numbers. Larger and more feature-rich options from other brands have gained ground. In that environment, manufacturers often trim slower-moving variants to keep production efficient.

The Cultus name still carries recognition. Whether the remaining VXL continues long-term or serves as a bridge to something new is unknown. Buyers who value the model’s size, fuel economy reputation, and dealer network still have one clear option on the books.

For the moment, the practical reality is simple. New bookings for the VXR and AGS are closed. The VXL is the only Cultus variant Pak Suzuki is accepting orders for.
