Sazgar Engineering has shared clear plans for its next big step in Pakistan’s car market. The GWM Canon Alpha pickup is set to arrive in the coming months. Company management said it will come at a competitive price.

This double-cabin truck is a plug-in hybrid. It pairs a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor. Combined power reaches around 300 kW (about 402 hp) and 750 Nm of torque. It can drive up to 115 km on pure electric power and offers a total range of more than 1,000 km. Four-wheel drive and a 9-speed hybrid gearbox are part of the package. Local CKD production preparations are already complete.

ARCFOX Electric Vehicles and Wider NEV Plans

Sazgar is also preparing to bring ARCFOX electric vehicles from BAIC. The first models expected are the T1 pure EV and the T5 range-extender SUV. Samples are due to arrive soon. Whether these cars come as fully built imports or local assembly will depend on the new auto policy incentives.

The company showcased a wider new-energy vehicle lineup at the recent Pakistan Auto Show. Models such as the Tank 300, Haval H7 and Jolion Max are also in the pipeline. Future launches will follow the direction of government support for plug-in hybrids.

Holding Prices and Waiting for the New Auto Policy

Sazgar is currently absorbing the higher 18% GST on its vehicles. Management has chosen not to raise prices. They expect the upcoming auto policy to bring clearer and possibly lower tax rates, especially for PHEVs. The company does not want buyers who purchase now to carry the extra tax load.

Industry talk points to stronger incentives for new energy vehicles under the 2026-31 policy. Draft ideas include treating PHEVs more like full EVs with lower sales tax. Sazgar sees this as a key chance for its hybrid and electric range.

Rs22 Billion Expansion for Higher Production

To support the growing lineup, Sazgar has approved a Rs22 billion investment. The main part is a fully automated new paint shop. Once ready, the four-wheeler plant capacity will rise to 54,000 units a year on a single shift. Extra land near the plant and a commercial plot in Lahore for showroom and service facilities are also part of the plan.

These steps show Sazgar is building for more models and higher volumes. The Canon Alpha, ARCFOX cars and other NEVs will give buyers more choices in pickups, SUVs and electric options. Pricing and exact timelines will become clearer once the new auto policy is final. For now, the company is moving forward while keeping prices steady for customers. For more updates, visit DrivePK.com
