Toyota is putting the next Fortuner through road tests in Thailand. Fresh spy images show the SUV under heavy camouflage. The pictures give a clearer look at both the front and rear design.

The new model keeps the same basic platform as the current Fortuner. It does not switch to a completely new chassis. Instead, Toyota is giving it a major exterior refresh that follows the recent Hilux update.

What the Spy Images Show

At the front, the Fortuner gets revised headlights and a wider grille. The overall look appears more upright and muscular. Slimmer lighting elements sit higher on the fascia, matching the direction seen on the latest Hilux.

The rear shows bigger changes. The tailgate looks more boxy. The taillights have been redesigned and now appear closer to production form. The overall rear shape is squarer than the current model. A shark-fin antenna and roof spoiler remain visible under the camouflage.

Powertrain Expectations

Toyota has not confirmed the engines yet. Reports point to the familiar 2.8-litre or 2.4-litre turbodiesel units. These could be paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, the same technology already used on the updated Hilux.

A mild-hybrid setup would help with fuel use and smoothness while keeping the strong towing and off-road ability buyers expect from the Fortuner.

What Comes Next

The current Fortuner has been on sale for years with only minor updates. This redesign brings it in line with Toyota’s newer rugged models. The SUV should reach key markets in 2027, with Thailand and other Asian countries likely among the first.

More details on the interior, exact power figures and launch timing will come once Toyota removes the camouflage and shows the finished car. For now, the spy shots confirm a clear design step forward while staying true to the Fortuner’s proven base. For more updates, visit DrivePK.com
