2027 Hyundai Tucson Revealed: Bigger, Boxier SUV

Hyundai has fully revealed the fifth-generation 2027 Tucson, and the new model is a clear shift from the old one. It is bigger, more upright and built around hybrid power. According to a source report from ` initial deliveries in some markets are set to begin in Q4 2026, but Pakistan launch plans, local pricing and booking details have not been confirmed.

For Pakistani buyers, that difference matters. A global reveal is not the same as a local launch, and it does not mean sales will start here on the same schedule.

What Changed in the New Tucson

The 2027 Tucson is now 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, 1,685 mm tall and has a 2,785 mm wheelbase. That means Hyundai has added 60 mm in length, 40 mm in width, 20 mm in height and 30 mm to the wheelbase.

According to the source report, the extra size is not just for looks. Rear headroom has grown by 29 mm, and the rear doors now open to 83 degrees instead of 73 degrees. In simple words, rear-seat entry should be easier, and the cabin should feel less tight than before.

A New Boxier Design

Hyundai has moved away from the sharp, busy bodywork of the outgoing Tucson. The company’s new “Art of Steel” design language gives the SUV a straighter shape and a more upright stance. The familiar H-shaped lighting theme stays, but the overall look is now more traditional and SUV-like.

The new Tucson will come in eight exterior colours, including five new ones: Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Gray Matte, Driftwood Gray Metallic, Redrock Orange Matte and Quiet Copper Pearl.

Tucson XRT Gets a Tougher Look

Hyundai will also offer an XRT version. Based on the source report, it gets a larger grille, black trim, wheel-arch cladding, black wheels, a dedicated rear bumper, skid plate styling and XRT badges.

That said, these changes appear mainly visual. Hyundai has not confirmed any serious off-road hardware upgrade, so buyers should not assume the XRT is a true off-road SUV just because it looks tougher.

Cabin Goes More Modern

Inside, the Tucson now has a more horizontal dashboard layout, a vertically oriented touchscreen, a squared two-spoke steering wheel and a floating centre console. Ambient lighting also runs across the cabin in a flatter line than before.

The report says there will be four interior colour combinations, wood trim on higher grades and XRT-specific details such as patterned seats, dark-metal trim, orange stitching and protective floor mats.

Some safety and convenience features may still be announced later, so buyers should treat detailed equipment lists as pending until Hyundai shares the full market-specific spec sheet.

Hybrid Becomes the Main Story

Hyundai’s biggest change may be under the bonnet. The company has confirmed an updated 1.6-litre turbo hybrid as the main global powertrain for the new Tucson. A plug-in hybrid is also planned, with a target electric-only driving range of around 100 km.

According to sources, gasoline-only versions may still appear in some markets, but final engine line-ups, power outputs, battery size and charging details have not been confirmed. The PHEV range should also be treated as a target, not a real-world test result.

If you need an SUV right now, compare models that are already officially available. If you can wait, the new Tucson could be worth watching because it brings more space, a cleaner cabin and a stronger hybrid plan. Just remember that parts support, battery warranty and after-sales service will matter as much as the design.
