Pakistani premium-bike buyers may soon get a cheaper option than imported CBUs, but only if a new plan by Buraq Automobile moves ahead on time. According to a source report at the company says it wants to start CKD assembly of Benelli and Moto Morini motorcycles in Pakistan from January 2027.

The timeline is still a target, not a guaranteed launch. The report says the plant is expected to be ready by December, with the first locally assembled bikes planned for January 2027. That means buyers should treat the project as a proposal for now, not as a finished market change.

What Buraq says it plans to build

According to the source report, the first models lined up for local assembly include the Benelli 180S and Benelli TNT 150i. The 180S is described as a 180cc liquid-cooled EFI naked bike, while the TNT 150i is a 150cc air-cooled EFI naked bike and the lower-priced Benelli option in Pakistan.

Moto Morini’s planned lineup starts with the Alltrhike 450, followed by a 300cc model. For buyers, that matters because these are the kind of bikes that usually arrive as expensive CBUs, which keeps prices out of reach for many riders.

The possible price gap is large

The clearest example in the report is the Moto Morini Alltrhike 450. The imported CBU price is cited at Rs. 26 lakh, while the tentative locally assembled price is Rs. 19.95 lakh. That points to a cut of about Rs. 6 lakh, or around 23%.

That is only an example price shared in the report, not a final retail list for every model. Final Benelli prices have not been confirmed, and the company’s own pricing can still change before launch.

If the estimate holds, it could make premium motorcycles more reachable for riders who want a brand-name bike but cannot justify CBU prices.

Why CKD assembly could matter

CKD assembly usually faces lower duties than fully built imports, so local assembly can bring prices down if the savings are passed on to customers. The report says Buraq expects to pass on those gains in lakhs.

The timing could also be affected by policy. According to the source report, a draft auto policy may further reduce CKD duties, but that proposal is not yet confirmed. For now, any extra relief from future duty cuts should be seen as possible, not certain.

EFI is another key point for buyers

The planned bikes use EFI, not carburetors. That can mean smoother fueling, easier starts in cold weather, and better throttle response. But there is also a real ownership question: service support.

Pakistan still has limited mass-market EFI repair support in motorcycle workshops, especially outside big cities. So while EFI can improve daily use, buyers will still want to know about spare sensors, trained mechanics, and workshop coverage before spending on a premium bike.

Should buyers wait?

If someone needs a bike now, it makes more sense to compare today’s CBU prices, warranty, parts supply, and dealer support. If someone can wait, the smarter move is to watch for plant progress, official bookings, final prices, and service-network details.

The plan is promising, but it is still a plan. Until Buraq Automobile publishes official booking and pricing details, buyers should not treat the current estimates as final.
