BYD Da Han: The New Flagship Luxury Sedan With Over 1,000 km of Range

BYD just showed the first official images of its next big sedan. The car is called the Da Han, sometimes written as Great Han. It sits at the top of the Dynasty lineup and aims straight at buyers who want space, range, and quiet power without the usual luxury price tag.

This is not a mild update to the existing Han. It is a larger, more capable car built for long trips and everyday comfort. Chinese authorities have already listed the core numbers, and the details line up with what we saw on the road during testing.

Size That Matches the Big Names

The Da Han measures 5,256 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,510 mm tall. The wheelbase stretches to 3,130 mm. That makes it 66 mm longer than a standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The long wheelbase gives rear passengers real room to stretch out. Front and rear pillars blend into the roof line and wear a silver finish for contrast. Semi-hidden door handles and 21-inch multi-spoke wheels keep the look clean.

The front uses thin headlights linked by BYD’s familiar “Dragon Whiskers” light signature. A trapezoid air intake sits in the lower bumper. At the back, a continuous light bar runs the full width. A LiDAR unit sits on the roof, ready for the advanced driver system.

Official photos show the car in a deep green color that may become the launch shade. Test cars have also appeared in red.

Battery and Range That Calm Range Anxiety

Every pure-electric Da Han uses a 102.3 kWh LFP Blade battery made by BYD’s FinDreams unit. The pack weighs 725.9 kg and accounts for more than 30 percent of the car’s curb weight. The RWD version claims 970 to 1,008 km under the CLTC test cycle. The dual-motor AWD model is rated at 820 to 880 km.

These are Chinese cycle numbers, so real-world figures will be lower. Still, a claimed 1,000-plus kilometer range from an LFP pack is rare. LFP chemistry is known for long life and stable behavior even when charged to 100 percent regularly.

The battery also supports BYD’s flash charging system. Exact charge times for the Da Han have not been published yet, but earlier Blade Battery 2.0 cars can add hundreds of kilometers in a few minutes on high-power stations.

Curb weight sits between 2,260 kg and 2,325 kg for the RWD model and reaches about 2,505 kg for the AWD version.

Power Choices for Different Drivers

The base electric model uses a single rear motor rated at 370 kW, or 496 hp. The top version adds a front motor for a combined 570 kW, or 764 hp. That AWD setup can reach a top speed of 270 km/h.

Rear-wheel steering is standard. It tightens the turning circle in city streets and helps stability at higher speeds. The chassis also uses double-wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, and DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension. The air system can smooth out rough roads and keep the body level under load.

Plug-in Hybrid Option With Strong Electric Range

Buyers who still want a petrol backup can choose the DM-i plug-in hybrid. It pairs a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 115 kW (154 hp) with a 200 kW electric motor. The battery is a 54.5 kWh LFP pack. BYD says the car can travel up to 470 km on electricity alone under CLTC rules. That is enough for most daily driving without using the engine.

Driver Assistance With LiDAR

The Da Han comes with DiPilot 5.0. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and cameras in the front fenders feed the system. The setup is designed for highway and city assistance, including lane changes and traffic-light recognition. Exact feature lists will become clearer closer to launch.

Design and Everyday Details

The overall shape is elegant rather than aggressive. The long wheelbase and low roof give it a classic luxury sedan profile. Continuous silver roof pillars create a floating-roof effect. Inside details have not been shown yet, but the size suggests generous legroom and a quiet cabin focused on comfort.

When and Where It Goes on Sale

Official images appeared in late July 2026. The car is expected to make its public debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in August and go on sale in China in the third quarter of 2026. Early estimates put the price around 210,000 to 300,000 yuan, depending on the version. That is far below traditional German full-size sedans with similar power and space.

The regular Han and Han L will continue for now. The Da Han sits clearly above them as the true flagship.

Many buyers still worry about range and charging stops on long trips. A claimed 1,000 km CLTC figure from an LFP battery addresses that concern head-on.
