- Why It Fits Pakistan
Chery just launched the Tiggo 8 PHEV. It is Pakistan’s first locally built 7-seater plug-in hybrid SUV.
Space That Actually Works
Seven real seats. The third row fits two adults at 5'8" without touching the roof. Slide the second row forward for more legroom back there. Fold both rows flat, and you get 1,930 liters of cargo space.
Power and Range
A 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine teams up with two electric motors. Combined output: 326 hp and 565 Nm of torque. 0–100 km/h takes 7.6 seconds.
Plug it into a standard 220V socket overnight, full charge in 4.5 hours. You get 75 km of pure electric range. Total hybrid range tops 1,000 km on a full tank and battery.
Local Build, Local Benefits
Assembly runs at Ghandhara Nissan’s plant in Port Qasim, Karachi. Chery invested PKR 300 million in the line. Over 60% local parts by value within two years. That keeps prices in check and creates 400 direct jobs.
Cabin Comfort
Heated and ventilated front seats. Second-row captain chairs with armrests. A 12.3-inch digital cluster plus another 12.3-inch center screen. Wireless charging pad, USB-C ports in every row, and a 10-speaker Sony sound system.
Safety Kit
- 6 airbags
- 360° camera with transparent chassis view
- Adaptive cruise with stop-and-go
- Lane departure warning and auto correction
- Blind-spot cameras that pop up on the cluster when you signal
Running Costs
Night-time charging at PKR 35 per unit costs PKR 280 for a full battery. That replaces 5.2 liters of petrol at PKR 260/liter. Drive 1,500 km a month and save PKR 12,000–14,000 versus a 2.0-liter petrol SUV.
Colors and Wheels
Six exterior shades: Aurora Green, Star Silver, Lava Red, Pearl White, Midnight Blue, Carbon Black. 19-inch alloys standard; 20-inch optional.
Booking and Delivery
Bookings open November 15 at Chery showrooms in Karachi (Clifton), Lahore (Gulberg), and Islamabad (F-7). First deliveries start in January 2026. Priority for the first 500 customers who pay PKR 2 million advance.
Price Guess
Chery stays quiet on the sticker. Imported rivals like the Kia Sorento HEV sit at PKR 13.5 million. Local assembly should land the Tiggo 8 PHEV around PKR 11.8–12.5 million.
Why It Fits Pakistan
Fuel is PKR 260 a liter today. Electricity at night is PKR 35. Families need seven seats for school runs and weekend trips to Murree. The Tiggo 8 PHEV gives space, power, and savings in one package.
And it forces Toyota, Honda, and MG to bring their own plug-in hybrids faster. Good news for buyers.
Head to a showroom next week. Sit in the third row. Plug in the demo unit. See if the numbers work for your wallet. For more updates, visit DrivePK.com
