Everyone says talking is faster than typing. But is the DrivePK Bolo App actually quicker than tapping through filters? We set up a simple head-to-head test to find out, using the same searches both ways and timing each from first tap to first useful result.
How we tested
We picked three searches that mirror how real buyers shop in Pakistan:
- Simple: a white 2022 Corolla
- Detailed: an automatic hybrid SUV in Lahore under a set budget
- Fussy: a car with a sunroof and leather seats in a specific city
For manual filters, we used the Car tab and set city, make, model, year, price and features one by one. For the Bolo App, we tapped the plus button at the bottom, spoke the request in plain words, and waited for results. Timing started when we opened the search and stopped when the right listings were on screen.
Round 1: The simple search
This is where the Bolo App shines. Saying "Hi, can you find me a white Corolla, 2022 model" gets the app to break your sentence into color, make, model and year on its own. Manual filtering means at least four separate selections, each with its own dropdown.
- Winner: Bolo App One sentence replaced a chain of taps, and the results appeared after just a few seconds of processing.
Round 2: The detailed search
Here the gap narrows. The Bolo App can factor in budget, city and transmission type, so a long request still works in a single go. But the longer your sentence, the more chances the voice tool has to mishear something. Manual filters are slower to set up, yet every value you tap is exactly what you meant.
- Winner: Bolo App on speed, manual filters on precision. If the first result is slightly off, you spend extra seconds correcting it.
Round 3: The fussy search
Features like sunroof, leather seats and fuel type are easy to tap in the features section, which lists them clearly. Describing them aloud works too, but this is where results were closest to a tie. Some buyers know exactly which checkboxes they want, and for them tapping is just as quick.
- Winner: Tie
When the Bolo App needs a backup
No voice tool is perfect, and it's worth being upfront about that. Background noise, strong accents, or mixing Urdu and English mid-sentence can trip up any voice system. In our tests, a busy room was the main thing that slowed the Bolo App down.
The good news is that DrivePK built the voice feature on top of the filters rather than in place of them. If results are close but not exact, you have two easy options:
- Speak again with more detail, such as adding a city or transmission type.
- Switch to manual filters to fine-tune things like price range or mileage.
The best workflow we found was a hybrid. Let the Bolo App do the heavy lifting in one sentence, then use filters to polish the last details. That combination beat either method alone on total time.
Who should use which
Choose the Bolo App: If you are in a hurry, shopping hands-free, less comfortable typing, or searching for a model with a tricky spelling. Speaking a name out loud often beats fighting a small keyboard.
Choose manual filters: If you already know your exact specs, are searching somewhere noisy, or want to tweak a narrow range like mileage or price.
The verdict
For quick, clear requests, the Bolo App wins on speed. It turns a multi-step filter routine into a single sentence and gets you to matching listings in seconds. For highly specific searches, manual filters still hold their own, and the fact that you can jump between the two at any moment is the real advantage. You are never stuck with one way to search.
Whichever method you prefer, once you spot the right listing you can message the seller directly through the chat tab without leaving the app. For more updates, visit DrivePK.com
