iCAUR V23 and V27 Arrive Quietly in Pakistan

Two unusual SUVs turned up in Pakistan recently. They arrived under protective wrapping. Photos spread fast on social media. The cars are the iCAUR V23 and iCAUR V27.

Nishat Group is behind the move. The same group that brought Hyundai and later Omoda and Jaecoo to the country. This time the brand is different. iCAUR is Chery’s dedicated new-energy line. In China it is called iCar. Overseas it uses the iCAUR name because of trademark rules.

The deal was signed in Beijing in April 2026. NexGen Auto, Nishat’s automotive arm, will handle the brand here. The vehicles spotted now look like early units for testing or preparation. Nishat has not released prices, full variant lists, or an official launch date. Both models are expected this year.

Why These Two Models Matter

The V23 is the smaller one. It is a pure electric SUV. Boxy shape, upright stance, round LED lights. It looks like a modern take on classic off-road vehicles. Nishat plans to bring the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. Combined power sits around 208 horsepower and 292 Nm of torque. The battery is 81.76 kWh. Claimed range is about 430 km on the NEDC cycle. Ground clearance reaches 210 mm unladen. Approach angle is around 42–43 degrees. Departure angle is 41 degrees. Water wading depth is 600 mm.

Inside you get a large 15.4-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated seats, and a 540-degree camera system. Level 2 driver aids are standard on the higher versions. The cabin feels tall and practical because of the boxy roof.

The V27 is much larger. Length is just over five metres. Wheelbase is 2,900 mm. This one uses REEV technology. Electric motors drive the wheels. A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine works only as a generator to charge the battery. It does not send power to the wheels. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup produces about 449 horsepower and 505 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.9 seconds. Pure electric range is claimed at around 150 km. Total range with the fuel tank can reach close to 1,000 km depending on the test cycle.

The V27 also gets the same large screen, strong safety suite, and multiple drive modes for road and light off-road use. Boot space is generous when the rear seats fold flat.

Nishat’s Track Record So Far

Nishat is not new to this. Omoda and Jaecoo started local assembly in late 2025. By early August 2026 the group had already built 10,000 units at the Faisalabad plant. That is a fast ramp-up for a new brand in Pakistan. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid models found buyers quickly. People liked the features and the modern design at the price points offered.

iCAUR continues the same partnership with Chery. The focus shifts more toward pure electric and range-extended electric vehicles. The boxy adventure style is new for the local market. Most current SUVs here follow softer crossover shapes.

What Pakistani Buyers Will Ask First

Charging is the obvious question. Public charging points remain limited. Many existing stations are still unregistered. Highway coverage is thin. Pure electric cars work best for people who can charge at home or at the office. That is why the V27’s range-extender system may suit more drivers. You drive on electric power most of the time. When the battery runs low the engine starts and keeps the motors fed. You refill petrol the normal way. Long trips become less stressful.

Fuel costs and electricity prices matter too. Petrol prices keep rising. Electricity tariffs for charging have come down in some cases, but the network still needs growth. Government targets talk about thousands of chargers by 2030. Progress on the ground is slower.

Resale value and after-sales support will also decide success. New Chinese brands have faced questions on both points in the past. Nishat’s existing dealer network and the scale of Omoda-Jaecoo production give it a starting advantage. Parts and service will need to keep up as volumes grow.

Design That Stands Out

Both cars look different from almost everything else on Pakistani roads right now. The square body, flat sides, and upright glass give them strong presence. Side steps, large wheels, and roof rails add to the adventure image. The rear storage box on some versions looks like a spare-wheel cover but is actually a practical storage unit.

Inside the materials and features match what buyers now expect from recent Chinese models. Soft-touch surfaces, physical buttons for key functions, and clear digital displays. The tall roof and flat load floor make the cabin useful for families or light outdoor trips.

Timing and Next Steps

The wrapped vehicles suggest Nishat is moving from planning into preparation. Testing, certification, and dealer training usually come next. Local assembly is possible later, given the group’s existing plant and experience with Chery platforms. For now the first units look imported.

No official price has been shared. In other markets the V23 sits in the compact premium electric segment. The V27 competes with larger hybrid and range-extended SUVs. Local pricing will depend on taxes, localisation level, and how Nishat positions the brand against existing hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

What This Means for the Market

Pakistan’s car buyers are already shifting. Hybrids and plug-in hybrids from several brands sell steadily. Pure electric numbers are still small because of infrastructure limits. A range-extended model like the V27 offers a middle path. Electric drive for daily use. Petrol backup for longer journeys.

The V23 targets people who want a distinctive electric SUV for city and weekend use and can manage charging. The boxy look may attract buyers who want something different from the usual crossover shape.

Nishat’s speed with Omoda and Jaecoo shows the group can scale production and sales quickly. iCAUR adds a more adventure-focused new-energy option to that portfolio.

Things Still Unknown

Exact launch month remains open. Full list of variants and equipment packs is not public. Final local specifications may differ slightly from the global cars. Service network plans and warranty terms will matter once sales start.

For now the pictures and early access details confirm one clear fact. The cars are in Pakistan. Nishat is preparing the ground. Buyers who like bold design, electric or near-electric driving, and a bit of off-road ability now have two new names to watch.
