Islamabad Traffic Jam Today: VIP Movement Blocks Roads November 2025
I got stuck again this morning. Same story, different year. Left home at 7:30 from G-10, thinking I’ll reach the Blue Area by 8:15. Three hours later, I was still crawling near Zero Point. Welcome to the Islamabad traffic jam in November 2025, brought to you by back-to-back VIP movement.
What Actually Happened Today
The red zone was locked down from 7 a.m. till almost 2 p.m. Constitution Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, Margalla Road, and the whole Islamabad Expressway turned into parking lots. Google Maps showed everything in angry red. From Aabpara to F-10, G-11 to Serena Chowk – nothing moved.
Police sealed every entry to Parliament, the PM's House, and the Diplomatic Enclave. No warning, no tweet, nothing. Just barriers and a thousand angry horns.
The Worst-Hit Roads Right Now
- Islamabad Expressway (from Koral to Zero Point) – dead stop
- Constitution Avenue is closed on both sides
- Jinnah Avenue is blocked near D-Chowk
- Margalla Road jam from F-10 to D-12
- Srinagar Highway is slow because everyone is using it as a detour
How It Ruined Everyone’s Day
School vans waited outside the gates for over an hour. Kids were late, parents panicked. My friend Sara missed picking up her daughter from Beaconhouse Margalla; she was stuck near 7th Avenue for 90 minutes.
Office people just gave up. Half the Blue Area was empty till 11 a.m. One guy I know marked half-day because he reached I-8 at 11:30 instead of 8:45.
Delivery riders lost their morning earnings. Hospitals saw late patients. Simple stuff, buying bread, reaching the bank, became impossible.
Why This Keeps Happening in 2025
Security says a full road block is the only safe way for VIP protocol. Fair enough, nobody wants anything bad to happen. But why no heads-up? Even a 30-minute warning on WhatsApp would help.
Best Alternative Routes Right Now (Tested Today)
If you’re still stuck or planning to go out, here’s what actually worked today:
- From Rawalpindi to Islamabad
→ Use IJP Road → Lehtrar Road → Park Road → reach Islamabad without touching Expressway
- From G-10/G-11 to Blue Area
→ Take Service Road West → right on Margalla Road North → enter F-8 from the back gate near Kohsar Market
- From F-sectors to Centaurus or Jinnah Super
→ Go through E-11 → Golra Mor → enter from 9th Avenue side
- From the Bahria/Rawat side
→ Take Kahuta Road → enter from CBR Phase 2 → reach G-13/G-14 bridge → connect to Srinagar Highway
- From Barakahu/Murree Road
→ Use the new Murree Road Expressway link near Malpur → drop straight into Bhara Kahu bypass
Quick Survival Tips That Save Hours
- Download the Ride Pakistan App, which shows live police barriers
- Visit an authentic website (real-time updates) and wattsapp groups etc:
– Islamabad Traffic Updates 2025
– Red Zone Alerts Islamabad
- Keep FM 92.4 on – ITP announces road openings there first
- Leave one hour early if your route touches 7th Avenue, 9th Avenue, or Zero Point
- Use Google Maps live traffic + Waze together, and both show different things
The Bottom Line
Islamabad is a beautiful city on normal days. Wide roads, green belts, clean air. But one VIP movement and the whole city freezes. It’s been like this for years, and honestly, we’re tired.
We get it, security matters. But a small alert, one open lane, or a fixed timetable would make life easier for the rest of us.
Until that changes, keep these detours saved, leave early, and stay safe out there.
Drive slow, stay patient, and pray the road opens soon.
