A new buyer in Pakistan may now face a very different kind of choice: stick with the familiar petrol-powered Kia Stonic Turbo S at PKR 58.99 lakh, or move to the electric Chery Q Premium at PKR 55.54 lakh. On published prices, the Chery is PKR 3.45 lakh cheaper. But that does not make the decision simple.
According to a source report at the two cars target similar urban buyers, yet they solve the ownership problem in very different ways. The Stonic offers a turbo-petrol setup that most drivers already understand. The Chery Q brings an EV powertrain, more screens, and a longer list of driver aids.
Size and daily use
The Chery Q is the bigger car in most key measurements, but the Stonic has more ground clearance, which can matter a lot on Pakistani roads.
| Specification | Kia Stonic Turbo S | Chery Q Premium |
|---|---|---|
| --- | ---: | ---: |
| Length | 4,165 mm | 4,195 mm |
| Width | 1,760 mm | 1,811 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,580 mm | 2,700 mm |
| Ground clearance | 183 mm | 166 mm |
| Boot space | 352 litres | Not listed |
The Chery Q is longer, wider and has a wheelbase that is 120 mm longer than the Stonic’s. That should help rear-seat room. But the Stonic’s 183 mm ground clearance gives it a clear edge for broken roads, speed breakers and steep entries.
Petrol familiarity or EV ease?
The Stonic uses a 998 cc turbo petrol engine with 100 PS and 172 Nm, matched to a 7-speed DCT and front-wheel drive. The Chery Q uses a 90 kW electric motor with 111 Nm, a single-speed drive, and rear-wheel drive.
These numbers do not tell the full story. Power and torque are delivered in different ways, so a brochure alone cannot decide which feels quicker or smoother. Local road testing would be needed to judge throttle response, DCT behavior, motorway comfort and EV acceleration.
Range, charging and refuelling
The Chery Q comes with a 42.7 kWh battery and a claimed 400 km NEDC range. That number should be treated as a test-cycle claim, not a guaranteed real-world figure. The report also says it supports AC and DC charging, but charging rates were not listed.
The Stonic’s 45-litre fuel tank is less glamorous, but far easier to live with if you want fast refuelling almost anywhere. For buyers who travel often between cities, that convenience still matters a lot.
The Chery Q also gets 6.6 kW Vehicle-to-Load support, which lets it power compatible outside equipment.
Tech and safety
This is where the Chery Q looks stronger on paper. It gets a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, 8.88-inch cluster, wireless charging, 540-degree camera, and automatic parking assist. The Stonic has an 8-inch screen, a 4.2-inch display, rear camera, and parking sensors.
Both cars offer six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, and ISOFIX. The Chery adds more driver-assistance tech, while the Stonic keeps a more traditional feature mix with LED lighting, roof rails, a sunroof and 17-inch wheels.
Which one suits Pakistan better?
For many buyers, the Kia Stonic Turbo S will still feel safer because it does not depend on charging access and offers more ground clearance. It is the easier pick for rough roads and mixed-use driving.
The Chery Q Premium makes more sense for urban owners who can charge at home or work and want EV driving, more tech, and a lower published price. Before booking, buyers should still check service support, spare parts, battery coverage, roadside help, and charging equipment in writing.
The source report says the Chery Q has a 6-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty. A comparable Kia warranty was not listed in the available data.
