The global car industry is shifting fast. Fuel prices are unpredictable. Buyers want smarter, more efficient vehicles. And traditional brands are scrambling to keep up. Into this gap stepped OMODA & JAECOO two brands under China's Chery Group and they've moved quickly.
In less than three years, they've entered 64 global markets and are closing in on one million total sales. That kind of growth is rare in any industry, let alone automotive.
And Pakistan? Pakistan is at the centre of that story.
From China to 64 Countries: The Speed Behind OMODA & JAECOO's Rise
OMODA & JAECOO are not the first Chinese car brands to try going global. But they might be the fastest to actually succeed at it.
As of 2025, OMODA & JAECOO have expanded into 64 markets worldwide, covering Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and more. The engine behind that reach is Chery Group's investment in research and development — specifically in new energy vehicles (NEVs) that fit different markets without losing core quality.
A key technology in that push is the SHS Super Hybrid System. It integrates PHEV and HEV pathways to deliver high power, high efficiency, and extended range, while adapting to diverse global markets such as Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. It's not a one-size-fits-all product. It's built to flex.
That focus on intelligent vehicles and real-world adaptability is what separates OMODA & JAECOO from brands that export the same model to every country and hope for the best.
Pakistan's Record-Breaking Launch
On August 1, 2025, at the Pakistan Expo Center, Nishat Group's NexGen Autos unveiled its partnership with China's Chery Omoda and Jaecoo. The launch was led by Nishat Group founder Mian Mohammad Mansha, alongside senior leadership from Chery Omoda and Jaecoo.
Five models were introduced at once a number rarely seen at a single automotive launch in Pakistan. The lineup included the Omoda E5, Jaecoo J6, J7 PHEV, C7, and J5 HEV. But the real headline came from what happened after the launch.
Nishat set a new global benchmark for OMODA & JAECOO with over 3,000 orders booked for the Jaecoo J7 SHS in the first month, making Pakistan the number one market globally for the highest number of orders placed in that period.
That's not a minor stat. That's Pakistan outperforming every other OMODA & JAECOO market on the planet in month one.
Nishat Group, through its subsidiary Nexgen Auto, invested $100 million to support EV manufacturing and marketing operations in Pakistan, with local assembly planned to commence in November.
Local Assembly and the 5,000-Unit Milestone
This wasn't a simple import play. Nishat Group moved fast on local production.
On December 2, 2025, Nishat Group completed the first rollout of the Jaecoo J7 SHS at its CKD plant in Faisalabad just four months after the vehicle's official launch in August 2025.
Four months from launch to local assembly. For context, many automotive ventures in Pakistan take years to reach that stage.
Nishat Group then marked another milestone with a "5,000 Units Line Off Ceremony" held at its manufacturing facility near Faisalabad, underscoring the brand's strong positioning in the premium segment with global standards and localized production.
And the production momentum is also creating jobs. Around 3,000 jobs have been created directly, with additional employment opportunities in related sectors.
The Models Pakistani Buyers Are Choosing
The OMODA & JAECOO lineup covers a wide range, from fully electric to plug-in hybrid to standard hybrid. Here's what's on the ground in Pakistan right now.
Omoda E5 is a battery electric vehicle built for urban driving. The Omoda E5 offers a practical, fuel-saving choice and an ideal drive for everyday urban use. It runs on CATL lithium iron phosphate battery technology with multiple safety layers built in.
Jaecoo J6 Slightly larger in size and sporting a boxy look, the Jaecoo J6 proved to be a statement on the road. Its sleek front lighting turned heads wherever it went, and being AWD, it delivers a strong grip through turns.
Jaecoo J7 PHEV (SHS) The runaway bestseller. The J7 SHS is renowned for its 1,200-plus km long WLTP range, made possible by a 60-liter fuel tank paired with plug-in hybrid capability. For buyers worried about charging infrastructure in Pakistan, that range matters.
J5 HEV (SHS) The most accessible model in the lineup. The J5 SHS brings hybrid technology to an entirely new price segment, combining practicality, value, and innovation to meet the evolving needs of Pakistani consumers. It also makes a strong case for sedan owners looking to upgrade to a proper SUV without a massive price jump.
Tech That Owners Actually Use
One thing that sets this brand apart from older competitors is the technology built into the ownership experience. Each car has its own dedicated app. The app allows owners to remotely start their car, cool the cabin in advance, keep headlights on while safely entering their home, and even activate a "pet mode," which maintains moderate air conditioning while the vehicle remains securely locked.
The cars also come with an advanced driver assistance system. The navigational safety system monitors blind spots, assists with lane changes, and even tracks driver attention.
For Pakistani buyers used to features being optional extras at extra cost, this is a real shift.
The Adamjee Insurance Partnership: Ownership Gets Simpler
Buying a car is one thing. Owning it smoothly is another. OMODA & JAECOO Nishat addressed this directly.
In Pakistan, OMODA & JAECOO Nishat signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Adamjee Insurance Company Limited, aiming to offer comprehensive and customized insurance solutions for customers nationwide. Through this partnership, customers benefit from streamlined policy issuance, tailored coverage options, and efficient claims support.
It's a small detail that carries big weight. Buyers already dealing with a new brand in a new segment need that kind of support structure to feel confident.
What's Next: Beijing Auto Show 2026
As the brand gears up for the Beijing Auto Show 2026, marking its third anniversary, the Pakistani market stands out as a key success story. The show is expected to bring new model announcements and technology previews and given how central Pakistan has been to their global growth story, more Pakistan-specific plans will likely follow.
The hybrid SUV segment in Pakistan is still early. Fuel prices are volatile. Infrastructure is improving slowly. But buyers are increasingly looking for cars that solve real problems long range, low running costs, smart features, and reliable after-sales. OMODA & JAECOO, backed by Chery's technology and Nishat's local network, are checking those boxes right now.
The first year set the record. The next few years will show if they can hold it.For more updates, visit DrivePK.com
