Punjab Launches Live Safe City Camera Feature Through Your Phone During 15 Calls
Punjab has launched a new Safe City feature that lets citizens share a live video feed with police during 15 emergency calls. With one tap, your phone becomes a real-time camera for the control room, improving response times, safety, and evidence collection.

Punjab just got a lot safer, and your own mobile phone is the reason.
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has rolled out a simple but powerful new feature that turns any citizen’s camera into a real-time feed for the police control room when seconds count.
The New “Connect to PSCA” Feature, How It Works
It’s straightforward.
You face an emergency and call the Police Helpline 15.
Instead of just talking on the call, the operator can now send you a secure link through SMS.
You tap the link → your phone camera turns on automatically → the Safe City control room sees exactly what you see, live.
No need to download anything extra. No complicated steps. Just one tap and the authorities get eyes on the scene immediately.
This is all part of the “Safe Punjab Vision” project, and the feature is already live in the official Safe City app (Women Safety app users will get it very soon, too).
Why This Actually Makes a Big Difference
Before this, police often arrived blind. They had fixed Safe City cameras, but those only cover certain spots.
Now, wherever you are a dark street, inside a building, on a highway at night, your phone becomes the camera that was missing.
That means:
- Faster response because officers already know what they’re walking into
- Better decisions about how many units or what equipment to send
- Stronger evidence if a crime is happening right then
- Extra protection for women, children, and anyone in danger
And it’s completely voluntary. You only share video when you choose to tap the link.
Privacy and Rules – PSCA Got This Right
A lot of people worry about privacy when cameras and police are involved. PSCA addressed it clearly:
- The camera only activates when YOU accept the link
- It only works during an active emergency call to 15
- The feed stops the moment the situation is handled, or you end it
- Random videos or fake emergencies are not accepted, they specifically asked people not to misuse it
They also reminded everyone to keep location services turned on so the system works smoothly when needed.
What You Should Do Right Now
- Download or update the Safe City app (Android or iOS)
- Make sure location permission is allowed
- Save 15 in your phone, you never know when you or someone near you might need it
- Spread the word, share this with family and friends, especially women in your circle
This isn’t some fancy tech stunt. It’s a practical tool that can save lives, stop crimes faster, and make Punjab feel safer for everyone.
One tap from a citizen can now give police the view they need to act right.
