Shehbaz Sharif Launches Revamped Shalimar Express in Karachi
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived at Karachi Cantt Railway Station today and pressed the button to restart the Shalimar Express after a full upgrade. The train now has better seats, air-conditioning, and Wi-Fi. New waiting halls for families and VIPs are also ready.
He said fixing Pakistan Railways will create jobs and help the country earn more money.
Big Plans for Karachi Circular Railway
The PM promised that the federal government and the Sindh government are working together to bring back the Karachi Circular Railway. Once finished, it will move thousands of people inside the city every day without traffic jams.
All major stations across Pakistan will get the same makeover that Lahore stations received last year.
Praise for the Railways Team
Shehbaz Sharif thanked Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi and his team. He said the minister is pushing hard to make trains run on time and look modern.
New International Routes Coming
Work has started on a rail link connecting Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. The old Islamabad to Istanbul train route will also reopen soon. These lines will carry goods and passengers across borders.
Talks are going on with the Asian Development Bank for a $2 billion loan. The money will fix tracks, signals, and buy new engines.
Why This Matters to Regular People
Better trains mean cheaper travel. A family going from Karachi to Lahore will spend less than on a bus and reach faster. Factories will move goods without trucks stuck on highways.
And when stations look clean and safe, women and kids will feel comfortable using trains again.
The Shalimar Express left Karachi tonight with its first passengers enjoying the new coaches. More trains will follow.
Pakistan Railways is finally getting the upgrade it needed for years. One station, one train at a time. For more updates, visit DrivePK.com
