Toyota just pulled the covers off something most people thought they’d never build again. A proper, no-compromises, two-seat supercar. They call it the GR GT. And yes, it’s road-legal.

This isn’t another GR Supra or GR Corolla with a body kit. This is Gazoo Racing’s new halo car. The one that sits at the top of everything Toyota makes. The spiritual successor to the LFA, but angrier, faster, and built for 2027 roads.

It Looks Like It Wants to Eat Porsche 911s for Breakfast

The shape hits you immediately. Long hood, cab pushed way back, massive hips. The engine sits behind the front axle for perfect weight distribution. The body is aluminium frame with carbon panels everywhere else.

Every vent, splitter, and diffuser actually works. Toyota says the aero package generates real downforce at speed. The stance is slammed. It looks low enough to scrape on Pakistani speed breakers — good thing it won’t come here officially anytime soon.

No fake grilles. No fake vents. Just pure function wearing a very expensive suit.

A Brand-New Twin-Turbo V8 Hybrid That Sounds Like the End of the World

Forget the BMW-sourced engines in the Supra. This one is 100% in-house.

4.0-litre V8. Twin turbos. Hybrid system. Target numbers: 650 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque.

Power goes to the rear wheels only through an 8-speed automatic. No manual option mentioned yet, but Gazoo Racing listens to fans — never say never.

Top speed? Over 320 kph. Realistically, it’ll do 0-100 in well under 3.5 seconds. Maybe closer to 3 flat.

And because it’s a hybrid, you’ll actually be able to drive it in city traffic without cooking the turbos or emptying your bank account every week.

Handling That Should Embarrass Cars Twice the Price

Double-wishbone suspension front and rear. Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes that cost more than a new Alto. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres as standard.

Toyota says the GR GT is being developed on tracks around the world, Nürburgring included. The same guys who made the GR Yaris a giant-killer are tuning this one.

It’s rear-wheel drive only. No all-wheel-drive safety net. Just you, 650 horses, and a very expensive set of tyres between you and the barrier.

Inside, It’s All Business

Open the door, and it feels like a race car you’re allowed to register.

Carbon bucket seats that hug you properly. Physical switches for everything important. No giant iPad stuck in the middle. No Toyota badges anywhere, just GR logos.

The steering wheel is thick, perfectly round, and covered in Alcantara. Pedals are drilled aluminium. Even the seatbelts look serious.

This is what happens when you tell the accountants to sit in the corner and be quiet.

Who This Car Is Really For

  • People who already own a GR Yaris or Supra and want the next step.

  • People who loved the LFA but couldn’t afford the 12 crore price tag.

  • People who think the Porsche 911 has gotten too soft and too expensive.

  • People who just want to hear a naturally aspirated V10 scream again — wait, no, this one’s turbo V8, but it’ll still sound incredible.

The Cars It Wants to Beat

Mercedes-AMG GT

Porsche 911 Turbo S

Aston Martin Vantage

Nissan GT-R (if it ever comes back)

Even the new Corvette Z06

Toyota isn’t just playing in this segment. They want to win it.

When Is It Coming? 2027.

Still two years away. Which means the final numbers might get even better. Or Toyota might chicken out and detune it for emissions. But knowing Gazoo Racing right now? They’re not in the mood to play safe.

Price? No official word yet. But if the LFA was 12 crore in Pakistan when new, expect this one to land somewhere between 15-25 crore when it eventually shows up through grey imports.

Conclusion

Toyota could have kept making reliable Camrys and bulletproof Hiluxes forever. Instead, they built a monster with 650 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and zero Toyota badges inside.

The GR GT isn’t just a car. It’s a statement.

And in 2027, when it finally hits the road, a lot of German engineers are going to have trouble sleeping.
