From July 28, 2026, petrol costs Rs334.18 per litre. That is Rs1 lower than the previous rate of Rs335.18. High-speed diesel moved the other way. It now stands at Rs386.83 per litre, up Rs3.37 from Rs383.46.

These rates hold for 24 hours under the daily fuel pricing system. The next review comes tomorrow.

The Petroleum Division notified the change. OGRA sets the ex-depot prices each working day using a seven-day average of international Platts prices, the dollar rate, and other costs.

Why Prices Move Daily Now

Pakistan switched from fortnightly or weekly reviews to daily ones earlier this month. Global oil markets turned unstable after renewed tensions in the Middle East. The Strait of Hormuz remains a concern for supply.

Daily updates let local rates track global prices more quickly. Friday rates usually stay the same over the weekend because Platts does not publish then. That is why prices held steady on July 26 and 27 at Rs335.18 for petrol and Rs383.46 for diesel.

Recent Daily Changes

Diesel has climbed steadily in the past week. Petrol has moved both ways but stayed high.

DatePetrol (Rs/litre)Diesel (Rs/litre)Notes
July 23327.12375.04Petrol +6.39, diesel +7.83
July 24331.52378.66Petrol +4.40, diesel +3.62
July 25-27335.18383.46Petrol +3.66, diesel +4.80; held over weekend
July 28334.18386.83Petrol -1.00, diesel +3.37

Diesel rose more than Rs11 in five days. That hits truckers, bus operators, and anyone moving goods. Food and transport costs often follow.

Petrol’s one-rupee cut offers little relief for car owners after earlier jumps. Many still pay well above Rs300 a litre.

Kerosene also rose by Rs1.96 to Rs303.10 per litre in the same notification.

What This Means for You

If you drive a petrol car, the change is small. Fill up today if you can. Diesel users face another increase. Transporters will likely pass the cost on through higher fares or freight charges.

The daily system aims for transparency. OGRA publishes the rates and Platts references on its site. Still, local taxes and levies keep final pump prices high even when global crude eases.
