BYD Sales Rise 11% as October Exports Double

BYD has kept its sales run going, with October 2026 deliveries reaching 490,168 vehicles, reportedly citing company data. That was an 11% rise from the same month last year and the company’s sixth straight month of year-on-year growth.
For Pakistani readers, the bigger question is not just how many cars BYD sold globally. It is whether this strong overseas push will mean better supply, faster deliveries, or sharper competition in Pakistan’s EV and hybrid market.
Exports are now doing the heavy lifting
The clearest sign of BYD’s current strength is outside China. Overseas shipments in October jumped to 170,194 vehicles, up 102.8% year on year, the source report said. That means exports made up around 35% of BYD’s total monthly sales.
That is a major shift. It shows that international markets are becoming a key source of growth as competition inside China stays intense and demand remains uneven. BYD is no longer leaning only on its home market. It is increasingly relying on buyers in Europe, South America and parts of Asia.
This does not automatically mean lower prices for Pakistani customers. It also does not guarantee more stock in local showrooms. Global demand can help a brand scale up, but local delivery still depends on shipping space, import rules, exchange rates, and how quickly the company can build service support in each market.

What it means for Pakistan
BYD is already expanding in Pakistan through Mega Motor Company. In July 2026, Pakistan received its first Roll-on/Roll-off shipment of more than 2,000 BYD vehicles at Karachi Port. That shipment reportedly included the Atto 2, Atto 3 and Shark 6.
That matters because Pakistan is still depending on CBU imports for now. Until local assembly starts, buyers are exposed to freight costs, duties, rupee movement and shipping delays. A strong global sales figure does not fix those issues by itself.
So while BYD’s growth may support a wider supply pipeline over time, Pakistani buyers should still check what is actually available locally before booking.
China’s price war is still a factor
The company’s sales rise is happening while China’s auto market stays under pressure. Automakers there are cutting prices and launching new electric and plug-in hybrid models at a fast pace. That makes the domestic market harder to win, even for a company as large as BYD.
The source report also said BYD’s third-quarter net profit rose 28% year on year to 10 billion yuan, while revenue increased 13.6% to 221.5 billion yuan. Even so, profit came in below analyst expectations.
That tells a simple story: BYD is still growing, but the market is not easy.

Should buyers wait or book now?
For Pakistani buyers considering an Atto 2, Atto 3 or Shark 6, the smart move is to look beyond headline sales numbers.
Check:
- confirmed local stock
- written delivery timelines
- warranty coverage
- service centre access
- charging support
- spare parts availability
- total landed cost
If you need a car soon, ask for clear delivery terms before paying. If you can wait, keep an eye on local assembly plans and any policy changes that may affect Chinese vehicle imports.
BYD’s October numbers show real momentum. But they are not a promise of cheaper prices or instant availability in Pakistan.
