For Pakistani buyers, the message is simple: the same brands that are building more EVs and crossovers for export are also the ones appearing more often in local showrooms and future launch talk. Awards do not decide what reaches Pakistan, but they do show which companies are now being taken seriously in multiple regions.

A shortlist that goes beyond one body type

The 2027 main category includes Chinese entries from BYD, Changan, Chery, Deepal, GAC, Geely, Jetour, Leapmotor, Lynk and Co, MG, XPeng and Zeekr, according to source reports and the World Car Awards candidate pages. Among the named models are BYD Ti7, Changan Nevo Q05, Deepal S05 and S07, Geely EX2 and Starray EM-i, Leapmotor B10 and C10, XPeng G6 and P7+, and Zeekr 8X. The field also includes rivals from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Volkswagen and Volvo.

That spread matters. These are not only budget hatchbacks. Chinese brands are now present in crossovers, plug-in hybrids, electric cars, luxury models and performance entries too.

The rules show these cars are built for export

The eligibility rules on worldcarawards.com/web/2027_eligibilitycriteria.asp show why this list is important. Candidate vehicles must be produced at least 10,000 times a year, sold in at least two major markets on two continents, and priced below luxury-car level in their main markets.

That means these cars are not China-only concept projects. They are real products with international sales plans, which is one reason they are now showing up in a major global awards race.

Chinese brands are also spread across other award classes

The World Luxury Car field includes Avatr 06, Avatr 07, Avatr 12, Denza Bao 5, XPeng G9, XPeng X9 and Zeekr 9X. In World Performance Car, Lynk and Co 02 and Zeekr 7GT are also in the mix.

This wider spread is important because it shows Chinese brands are no longer fighting only on price. They are now trying to build image in urban, luxury and performance segments too.

What this means for Pakistan

If the brands behind these 27 contenders keep expanding in Pakistan, the real test will not be global recognition. It will be whether owners get steady service, parts and support after the sale.
